Making an Insurance Claim

Insurance can help to protect horse owners against expensive costs, including veterinary fees. If you are in a position to have to make a claim, please find below our practice guidelines.

  • You, the owner, are responsible for notifying your insurance company that your horse is undergoing treatment and if necessary, requesting a claim form.
  • On deciding to make a claim, please complete your section of the claim form and forward to the practice as soon as possible.
  • The treating veterinary surgeon will then complete all other necessary sections of the form and this will be forwarded to your insurance company with all relevant invoices. If you wish to receive any copies, please request these from the practice.
  • With ongoing treatment, a continuation form may be required. Please check this with your insurers and advise the practice.
  • Please keep us informed of any exclusions or restrictions on your policy.
  • There is an administration fee of £20.62 for completion of an initial claim form, which is payable by the client, not the insurance company.
  • The insurance excess should be paid to the practice with the administration fee at the point of submitting your claim.
  • Please remember your insurance cover is an agreement between you and your insurance company. We will endeavour to assist you wherever we can to make claiming through insurance as straightforward as possible.
